OMC surges

1988 5.0l OMC This winter i installed an electronic ignition. The first couple of times out it ran great. The last two times out it would only go to 2600 rpm, then it would surge to 3700 rpm. I only run 90 octane w/o ethanol. Changed oil. All of the winterizing tasks. Any ideas?

Pull your carb and clean it

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... You've got a fuel delivery issue,...

Check the fuel filter for anything but clean fresh gasoline,....

Had similar issue last season. Ended up being a bad 50amp main fuse. It did not look any bad but replacing it solved an issue.
