I've got a 2.5L OMC stringer drive in my 19' Starcraft Islander.
It maxes out at just over 20mph with my 13 3/4 x 15 prop and it barely can get itself out of the hole. I've been though every system and verified compression is even at just under 140 psi on all cylinders and my fuel suystem and carb are squeaky clean. I checked my base timing for the first time this weekend anfd figured out I was about 20 degrees BTDC at my base timing. This would make my advanced timing about 40 degrees BTDC. I have reset the timing back to the base 4 deg BTDC and the engine runs smooth and starts easier now. How would the timing get this far off? Do you think this will gain me back some power and allow me to run the prop that everyone is telling me I should be able to run? I've got a 4blade Solas Amita that is a 13x17 this is listed as a prop which should give me better holeshot since the 19 pitch 3 blade is the one they list for all out performance. I looked at some other similar islanders and they were all running 17" or 19" props. When comparably equipped with a 4 banger.
