I have a 69 OMC 120hp I/O sterndrive. My boat is overheating, and i know it is because there is no fresh water flow to the engine and water pump. I assume there is an impeller that is supposed to supply the water to the engine, but i dont know where it would be, and how to check it. Unless it uses some other type of water pump... any help on this would be appreciated.

I do not know the 69 model but do know the 80 model. There should be a hose that comes from the outdrive up to the front of the engine. This water input from outdrive. While out on the water Pull this hose off front of engine and start up should have a steady flow of water. If no water you are right need to replace impeller in lower unit. If have water check thermostat and exhaust manifold.

That sterndrive waterpump is located in the bottom of your upper gearcase at the seam that pivots when you steer. No simple job. You will need a GOOD manual and some patience to handle this one.Give yourself a full day.
