I have a pair of v4 Loopers on a 24' Performer Cuddy. It's time to repair or replace them as I fried one at the end of last season. Because of the brackets I may need to simply rebuild what I have. Does anyone have experience re-building or retrofitting the Seadrive brackets?

thanks.

I have replaced the seadrives on a few boats with a bracket .You can buy used midsections, and use your existing powerheads and lowerunits(assuming they are in good shape)and convert to standard outboard. The conversions Ive donewere on single applications. But ,Ive seen many wellcrafts and hulls with full transoms retrofitted using brackets .The owners are more than happy with the performance. You will need to fill in the various holes in the transom, but its not something that is hard to do.Stainless Marine in South Fl. has a website that gives info. They custom make brackets. There are other manufacturers as well. Perhaps in North East.If you go with converting your engines,.you can use your current controls, the cables might also be long enough. If you like your hull, its a great idea.Good Liuck.

Re: OMC Seadrives Repair or Replace

This will be of no help to you but I have a pair of 1987 1.6L V4 Seadrives on my 23' Wellcraft. I have had this rig for 13 years & have had no trouble with the Seadrives. I have had both powerheads rebuilt. I understand that parts are hard to come by for the Seadrive assemblies. If I had deep pockets I would replace them with a single 225 ETEC but for now they are running just fine.
