Have a 17 foot 1991 Sunbird with 2.3L 4 cyc.OMC Cobra I/O. Hard shifting most of the time, but now stalls when shifting into reverse. Out of water on trailer it shifts fine forward and reverse. Occasionally get a thump (like you hit something) in forward. Probably the original shift cable. Suspecting the cable or some part in the linkage. Looking for any experience with this type of problem before I bring to the shop.
