Back to the well of knowledge. Thanks to all for your input. I have a 5.7 GM engine and the electonic ignition was installed as an after market item. I don't see the radio shack add on, what would be the downside of this? Should I get their coil ?

Re: OMC petronix ?

If your shift interrupt system doesn't work, then it will be very hard to shift from forward or reverse back to neutral. If you can, it WILL probably do damage to the drive and cables in short order.
Also, that part is not something you go to radio shack and find. It's something you make from parts from radio shack.
Here is a link to the drawing and the part numbers.

The CDI module has the wrong plug for some models. All you have to do is clip the plug off the old module and splice it on the new one. Color codes are the same.

Forgot about that KaGee! Had to change my plug. I used the Petronix II conversion on my engine.
