OMC model number

I have a woman selling her 1997 Glastron GS160 with a Johnson 90hp. We are rebuilding the motor and looked up the model number in our reference book and the model is saying it is a '94. The model # is J90TLARC. Serial number is G 03612471.<br />The dealer swears it is a '97. Who's in error, the book(OMC Model # Reference) or the dealer?

I might be missin' somethin' but I think there should be another letter after the 'C" in the model nr.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

The "A" instead of an "E" in the model number means a color change from the regular white.

Hey seahorse, you seem to be the guy to ask. I also have a evinrude 90 hp, model # E90mlcrd. Everyone i have asked say it is a '84, but dealer swore it was an '86 model on an '85 boat. I purchased used around '89. Have just assumed the dealer saw me coming, makes more sense they rigged and older stock motor on a new hull in the beginning anyway. Any truth to his lies?

Hey guys thanks for your replies! We were wondering where the "A" came from in the model number. I ended up calling Johnson directly and the motor is a '94 and not only is it 3 yrs. older than the boat, but it is used and still registered to someone who has a cabin up here. So she is not going to pursue any action. Can you believe that? A reputable dealer!? When asked the dealer said "why would I sell you a new boat with an old motor?" Yeah! why did he????????
