omc lower unit gear

well i have a searay which was originally bought in california the problem im having is i cant get it to plane in utah on a lake thats about 7200 feet above sea level what i need to know is would there be a different set of gears that would be in the lower unit if the boat was set up for utah instead of california... um here is some additional information<br />boat engine is a 350 chev<br />outdrive is omc<br />we have already tried all the different prop recomendations but i think this is a lower gear problem. if anyone can offer any help in this matter please tell me where i can get the proper lower gear a model number or part number would be very helpful<br />thank you<br /> i have also herd that you can adjust the carborator jets too.... but i dont know<br />thank you once again<br />john lepore<br />cideslicker@xmission.com<br /> :confused:

the gear setup would be the same. however we need more info such as what year is boat, what drive etc. when was the last time the engine had a tune up? there's a lot of different reasons why it won't plane.

check with searay dealer in the area for some kind of higher altitude running spec. if you were runnuing at sea level before and went to 7200 feet the is very thin and there is less oxygen content. two strokes require a smaller jetting to make up for this loss of power. good luck. :cool:
