OMC kicker bracket parts?

I'm thinking of getting one of those OMC kicker brackets for my sailboat -- the kind with the hydraulic assist? I'm looking at a couple of used models, and the guy says they need new bushings.

Anybody know the source for used parts, like the bushings and perhaps the assist cylinder?

And how long do those cylinders last before they should be replaced? They're pretty pricey, aren't they?

Maybe I should just get one of those spring asist models. Simple is good.

Advice? Thanks!

Bob in Idaho

I just rebuilt my omc bracket with the cylinder. The bushings were worn, and some metal parts. You won't find used parts and if you did they would probably be worn. Try any evinrude/johnson dealer they can order needed parts. Bob

Thanks, Motown. I wasn't sure how long those lift assist cylinders lasted, either. Heard they were about $175 to replace. Kind of pricey?
