I have an 85 OMC Stringer 800 mechanical shift with a 5.7. I used the boat a week ago, returned home and washed the boat and bilge out. This weekend went to use the boat and it did not start. It has no spark! I checked to see if there was 12 volts to the coil which it has with the key on. If I put a wire from the positive battery term to the positive side of the coil the boat will start. As soon as I remove the wire the boat dies! I disconnected the positive wire going to the coil and checked again. It has 12 volts with the key on but looses voltage when I crank it over. I do not know what happened as the boat was running perfect days before!
