What HP is my engine? I have a 4.3 Litre V6 OMC engine with a Cobra Outdrive in a 1987 Seaswirl Spyder bowrider 17.

The book says it is either 175hp or 260hp. How do I find out?

The engine Model # is 432APARY984541
The engine Serial # is T1009855T0481815

The block # is GM 6269732

I have been told the engine is a high output Chevrolet 262ci.

Thank you for your help.

Re: OMC HP question

If its a 2bbl carb then 175 HP,4bbl carb was rated about 200HP..
Not sure where they got the 260HP rating for a 4.3..

Re: OMC HP question

According to the model number (432APARY) The 432 indicates it's a 4.3L Engine with a 2 bbl carb. 175hp.
The 260 is for a carbed V8.

Re: OMC HP question

Thank you for your help.

Is the 4.3L with a 2bbl carb a high output engine at 175hp? The reason I ask is I need to rebuild this engine or put in another motor. I keep hearing I can use another marine or auto 4.3L v6 chevy or OMC and it should work out. Is that correct? Advice and suggestions are appreciated!

Re: OMC HP question

If you want more out of the standard 4.3 go with a 4bbl intake and Vortec heads...It will add a good bit of HP...;)

Re: OMC HP question

I have the 4.3L HO with the 4 barrel carb from 1990, and it was rated at 205HP. I love it, runs great. Of course, it would always be fun to have more HP!
