Hi all. Haven't been here in awhile as my boat missed all of last season with engine trouble. I was getting a ton of water in the oil everytime I ran it. Anyways its an 88' OMC GM, 305 cu engine. Last year I replaced the exhaust manifolds and head gasket trying to solve the problem. So now I can't get it to run and while working on it I was cranking the engine with the valve covers off (trying to adjust the valve seat clearance) and noticed that it is still shooting water out of the oil injectors. Any idea where that would be coming from? Obviously I'm not a mechanic, especially not a boat one so I'm looking for a bit of guidance. Sound like a cracked block? And if so any idea where at? ( I went over it pretty carefully while I had it torn apart and didn't see anything obvious. Thanks in advance for any help you all may have.

Re: OMC engine trouble, water in oil

Generally, I believe water in the engine comes from two sources.. bad head gasket, or cracked block. Since you already changed the gasket, it doesnt sound good.

I had a cracked block several years ago, due to a bad intake pump .. I didnt get enought anti-freeze up intothe engine while winterizing.

Mine was cracked horizontally near the cylinders on the block.. it was very obvious to see once I knew I had a problem.

Sorry to hear about your issue..hopefully you can get a new bloc near you and replace it.

thanks for the replies. not the news I was hoping for, but not really unexpected either. Anyone want to buy a boat (mechanics special!)?
