OMC Cobra to Volvo 250?

I have a nice 86' Larson that has a 4.3L Mercruiser that's shot, and a Cobra outdrive that also needs work. I also have an old 71' Thompson with bad stringers and upholstry, but has a good Volvo inline 6 and 250 outdrive.

Besides the controls and motor mount locations, will the volvo engine and drive transplant into the Larson? I mean, is the transom cutout the same? I'm asking, because I couldn't find much here about the 250 drive. Anyone know if that drive holds up to the Volvo reputation? Thanks.

In my opinion that swap would be way to much work to even consider. There are so many reasons not to try that swap that its not worth listing.

Part them both out and get yourself something else.

Sure, you could do that. But if you do, I would be forced, as a moderator, to move this over to the Stupid Human Tricks forum.
It would not be a wise decision. Parts for the Volvo IL6 and 250 ourdrive are rare and expensive.
But, as mentioned above, Part them both out and get yourself something else.
