OMC cobra sterndrive alignment

I just finished installing new coupler and gimbal bearing on my 1989 citation with omc 5.0. My question is my alignment is way off, the port side adjustment is all the way down and the starboard is about half way up is this normal or should I try and equal them out?? I just bought the boat and the previous owner had started working on it so I'm not sure if he adjusted them or not. Thanks

Welcome to iboats! I would say the PO did move the adjustments. That doesn't sound right. Start by bringing the port side up little at a time and checking if the bar will go in easier. Once you get generality, start using the grease marks on the bar as indicators. Good luck!

Lift the front of the motor up slightly and set both side mounts to the same height and start from there.

Thanks! I was thinking the same. Being my first inboard I wanted to make sure. The last thing I wanna do is replace the same parts again. If it stops raining I'll go try I've got 1100 including buying in this boat I'm anxious to see if its the deal I hoped it was.
