Hello - can someone please advise me what the Cobra shift rod adjustment should be? The Seloc manual says 7 13/64" to the top of the rod assy., but does not say what gear or neutral. The paragraph before requires the drive to be in reverse, but the rod adjustment does not state anything.

Also, if you are off by a couple 64ths or so, how critical is it?

TIA,
Robar

Re: OMC COBRA shift rod adjustment?

7 13/64" from drive CASING (not shift rod cover) to top of shift rod assy in NEUTRAL. I think it may be pretty important. I've been ****ing around trying to get shift adjustment correct for a while. Finally went back, rechecked rod height, & realized that it was too high by one revolution. bellcrank lined up much better when I adjusted the rod and reattached the drive. Haven't had a chance to do the inside adjustment/ attachment procedure to see how if that did it, but I'm guardedly optomistic.

Thanks - I had viewed the site you referenced, and only saw a hand written note regarding the 7 13/64 in neutral. Damn, now I need to go back in and re-adjust it!

Hopefully everything will work as it did before, I did not change anything other than removing the drive unit.
