OMC Cobra outdrive

Here's a question that I am sure you guys (experts) can answer. I have a nice open bow runabout (Jay Bee) with the 3.8 liter V-6 and OMC Cobra outdrive. My son hit a log at low speed but still managed to bend the prop shaft slightly. It still runs fine with no vibrations but I know this can't be good for the bearings. Prop shaft is probably out about 0.035", maybe more. There is a noticeable wobble when you spin the propeller by hand (in neutral of course)! So, I recently purchased a 1989 Bayliner parts boat with a 2.3 four cylinder and OMC Cobra outdrive. Outdrive is in mint condition and looks identical to the lower unit on the V-6 outdrive. Are they interchangeable? The Jay Bee boat is not used hard and less than 5 hours a year.

Re: OMC Cobra outdrive

Sure it's not the prop??What year is the V-6?? Profile, fill it out.
Do some measuring. The 2-3 might be smaller.Measure the length of the nose to the bearing carrier and across the bearing carrier. Those the same? Use it.Probably could use it anyway???
The manifold if it's good is a very valuable item.
They don't make them anymore.

Re: OMC Cobra outdrive

Profile filled out. Definitely NOT the prop...I replaced it after the incident. Unfortunately I cannot measure the lower unit on the Jay Bee boat with V-6 Cobra I/O as it is at our cottage in Canada and the Bayliner is in Ohio. I need to make a decision quick to either use the Bayliner lower unit for the Jay Bee, if it will fit, and part out the rest of the Bayliner or to fix a few minor issues on the Bayliner and sell it as a runner. What manifold are you referring to? Thanks Jerry! Jeff
