My boat is running sluggish, when i give it gas. I've replaced the fuel and water separator. I'be replaced the gas and used sea foam. Does anyone know if there is another fuel filter in the gas tank? Or have any other ideas?
The points were good and I had a mechanic who did the timing for me. He said its spot on. The boat would run decently when we took it out for like maybe 20 - 30 min, then it would start to run sluggish. You could have it full throttle and it would only go like 2 mph. I changed the fuel and water separator. Someone suggested that there could be a filter in the gas tank its self that could be clogged causing problems. I wasnt sure if there is a filter in the tank.
There should be an anti-siphon valve at the tank, it could be clogged? Or, maybe the line in the tank has a screen at the top, or bottom that could be clogged?
As it slows down, check the coil for being too hot.
You should be able to touch it without being burned.
Check the voltage going into the + side of the coil.
Should be 9v
My 4.6 would act similar to this and it turned out to be the carb. Once it was fully warmed up it would act like this. Rebuilt the carb, replaced all the filters and made sure the anti drain back was clear. Runs like a champ.
Thanks everyone for the help. Im going to start by getting the carburetor rebuilt soon. I live in pittsburgh and its still cold and we are still getting snow here in there. So i hope it warms up in like a month so i can start to trouble shoot my boat. Ill post back and let everyone know what happens, thanks again!
