'85 searay 255 amberjack w/ twin 3.8L V6's in front of 800 series omc drives. My problem is this: Both engines show that they are charging at 16+ volts when running. I am going to check voltage at batteries tomorrow with a meter, but my question is....is there anything other than the alternators that would cause this condition? Kinda hard to believe that both alternators are bad. I believe that these alternators are internally regulated. When keys are turned on and engines are not running, my voltmeters also only read 10 volts. Batteries are new this year also. Other than checking true charging voltage at batteries, what else might i try or test. thank you
