Friends 5.0 OMC (I think 91 - 92?) has two interesting problems.
Running without Lanyard..
When the boat is cold the motor will run without the Lanyard, as soon as the motor warms up, the boat will die. My thought was it was tied to the electric choke" opening up. turn it off for a few, and it will start again, only to stop a few minutes later. With the Lanyard on, it works as you would expect.
Any thoughts. looking at the wiring diagram, don't see much to help. Why does the electric choke come off of a special link from the alternator?
Vacuum from top of Valve Cover? Is it normal to have a pretty serious vacuum coming out of the PCV holes in the motors? where does this come from?
The Stbd side has a line going from the "PCV Hole" in the cover to the base of the intake manifold.
The port side has a line coming from the "filler neck" in the valve cover and just attached to a clip near the flame arrestor. presumably for "blow by"
I am assuming the Stbd side is where the vacuum is coming from, but is there nocontrol. If I finger plug the Port Side, in a few seconds I get a wierd noise (along with a nice hickey on my finger
)... I am assuming the weird noise is suction of air in through a loose gasket.
Is this normal
