Working on a new to me 1978 OMC 400. The upper gear box was dry and needs a total rebuild and I'm not liking the bearing prices I've found so far. I don't have the bearings pressed off the shafts yet to try and cross them over to timkin or other bearing mfgs. Does any one have a cheap source for the bearings? I have an omc manual, it doesn't look to hard to rebuild, but with the bearing and gasket set prices I've found, it will be cheaper to buy a parts boat.

Thanks, Jeff

GLM sells aftermarket bearing kits for that upper
I have crossed the bearing numbers and priced them at a local bearing house - same price as the GLM marine set.

Re: OMC 400 upper bearings

About 8-9 years ago I replaced all the cups/cones and seals in my 800 upper for $80 from a local bearing supply here in Ontario, Canada. (Timken and CR) Are you talking a lot more than that?
