OMC 400 Stringer 4 cyl GM Cobia Odyssey 195 cc Year and Model # help

The Boat is 1983 or 1984, I do not know the Year of Outdrive but the model is #983486 ser #J373523. I cannot find anything matching these numbers. . Advice on the best service manual, and tilt trim information would be great. I will attach a pic.

Welcome aboard:

On your engine, there should be an ID tag. Mine is toward the read on the driver's/starboard side. Use that ID tag to identify your drive system. In a 4cyl OMC, your drive is a 400 Stringer and by '84 you should be a full mechanical shift. OMC didn't really have model numbers on the drives.

Get a shop manual. I believe you can find one HERE.

Tilt and trim are two different systems on an OMC Stringer. Do you have mechanical or hydraulic trim? (should be on the front of the engine)

With the tilt, you could have all sorts of things going on. Is it working at all? Has it ever worked?
