I took my boat out this past weekend and it ran good as i could tell. At first, it took it awhile to warm it but i guess it was because it sit for 1 yr. Anyway, I did watch the gauges on it but one concern I had was the temp one. It was showing alittle over half way and sometimes close to 3/4. my concern is this normal? or do i I have the trim set wrong when riding it? i notice the propeller had some damage on it. do i need to go ahead and replace and could this cause it? thanks

Howdy,

If your temp gage is correct, it's NOT normal......Overheat problems are most frequently a failed or damaged raw water impeller.

It's also possible that your temp gage or even the thermostat is faulty.

Indicating that your prop is damaged tells me that you have a prop strike with either a foreign object (rock, log, or the bottom of the lake/river)

If you made contact with the bottom, you could have also ingested sand or other debris which could also damage your impeller or plug up your raw water system.

Don't operate with a damaged prop. You could have also bent the propshaft.

If you want to do any of the repair work yourself and you're capable, you'll need an OEM, OMC service manual. If you cannot do it. I suggest you find a marine mechanic that is familiar with OMC Cobra I/O equipment.

Regards,

Rick
