These are the details and responses Detailed Message

94 OMC 4.3 V6
Is there a simple method to check whether the waterpump housing is bad or the block itself??

Still new... but I'm trying.
If the waterpump is frozen, meaning it won't rotate, that doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem with the rest of the motor or block. The water pump could just be bad. I have run motors by disconnecting the belt and hose from the pump and putting a garden hose to the hose going into the motor. You can run the motor that way and see if there is water leaking from the the block. After you run it, check the motor oil to see if water got in there also.
Thanks ICEMAN, I think even I am capable enough to remove the belt & hose and run water through as it's started. And then check the oil.

The oil should not be creamy, coffee like, right?
Nomad. If you leave the belt on, connect up the garden hose to the muffs, get the engine running, and no water is leaking into the bilge and the engine does not over heat, the pump is ok. When I froze mine, I could stick my fingers in the crack created. Water came out profusely.

Crankcase oil should look like brand new... no milkshake appearance.

On a seperate note, don't forget to check the outdrive lube for water. Do this by cracking loose the drain plug (don't remove) and letting a small amount drip into a clear container. No water or seperation should be present.

BT
