Hey everyone! So last summer the OMC 3.0L cobra on my sunbird threw a rod bearing. It’s a OMC 3.0L with a OMC cobra outdrive. I’ve been looking ever since then and haven’t found any engines worth spending money on. However, I am finding a ton of Mercruiser 3.0L engines for decent prices. Has anyone ever had experience swapping an OMC 3.0 to a Merc 3.0 and what would be involved? Any advice/help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you!

you unbolt all the merc stuff down to the GM motor (that would be exhaust, intake distributor and all the stuff on the front of the motor), you do the same with your broken OMC. then you bolt all your OMC stuff onto the new to you motor.

easy peasy

Like they said.
Just be sure to save the serial plate from your engine so you can look up your OMC parts in the future. Screw it to your new engine somewhere. You'll still need that number.
I wish the previous owner of my boat had done that.
