OMC 3.0 stalls after WOT

this is a quistion about an OMC 3.0 sterndrive from 1988 mounted in a bayliner capri<br />Under normal circumstances the boat run's fine, but when it has been running at WOT for a few minutes it stalls and starts running idle.<br />Yesterday I could not start it up after running at WOT.<br />I removed the metal hood from the fuel filter to check if there was fuel, after doing only that it started up at once (even without the metal hood).<br />reinstalled the hood and we cood run slow to the harbour, even 3000 Rpm was Ok<br /><br />There is no water/fuel separation filter in between.<br />Could it be that there is a vacuum in the fuel tank when I am using a lot of fuel, the tank was less the half full.<br /><br />Arnold<br />Neherlands

Hi! it sounds like there is a clogged fuel filter somewere to me. and your tank can't do that it is an open system with vents hope i helped and God bless!! Dodge

Hi, The fuel filter is at least 4 years old and a bit rusty also. Is that Old? .I will replace it anyway<br /><br /><br />Arnold

Yes change the filter once a year if you don't want any grief.
