omc 2.3 cobra slow accalaration

Sometimes when I’ve run on slow rpm and I open the throttle to start up waterskiing the motor won't accelerate proper when I move the throttle slower forward and than to full power it runs ok.<br />It’s a 2.3 omc with 2bbl rochester carb.<br />Does someone know what to do about it?<br />At full power the motor runs perfect at 40 mph but the rpm are only 4500 will this be malfunctioning of the rpm because the speed is perfect or could it be better.<br />Peter<br />Holland

Have the same engine. Something similar was happening to us. When you accelerated hard it would sometime backfire and hesitated. We rebuilt the carb and now it accelerates fine.
