omc 1983 impeller replacement, instructions

i am new to working on any boat motor, got 1983 omc 2.5 liter 4 cylinder, how do i replace the impeller in the lower unit, thanks

First step.. I'd highly suggest you get hold of a service manual... iboats has em', local marine places have em', and you might even get luckey an find a copy at your local library..<br /><br />Service manual is worth it's weight in gold...

Snapper is right.A water pump job on this unit is no walk in the park and you will need more help and info than we can likely give you here.Support and back up info is ,of course, always here.

I'll second Snapper and hondon...the stringers are just a plain pain in the butt to change impellers out on. Service manual is a must.

For another thing the impeller is not in the lower unit. it's in the upper unit
