OMC 15HP el start/charge?

Is my 1981 Johnson 15HP w/ factory electric start (push button by tiller, not control box) supposed to charge my battery when running?

The electric start and charging kits were seperate.

You MAY have both.

Put a voltmeter across the battery first with the engine off and then running. That will tell you.
