I have an old OMC 120hp i/o, It has two carter 1 barrel carburators. The problem is that the engine floods immediatly when trying to start it... I have located the problem to be the valve that lets fuel into the barrel. The valves on the carbs appear to be stuck open, or not functioning from another part. does anyone recognize this problem? and maybe have a way to fix it?

Get yourself a couple carb rebuild kits from NAPA, clean everything up well, and replace those valves. NAPA can also get you an adjustment diagram sheet for those carbs. Make sure your floats are working and set properly, too. If not, they could be keeping the valve from shutting off fuel to the carb throat.
