I am considering purchasing a 1984 Bayliner Trophy with a Volvo-Penta drive train. The engine is a AQ125B ( 4 CYL) and the outdrive is a 270. I ran compression check on engine, all cyl's at 165 lbs. It seems to shift very smoothly from neutral into foward and then reverse. The engine and drive were supposedly o/hauled in 2000. Any thoughts on the reliability of this setup, and maintenance requirements? I noticed the engine has a timing belt, that makes me a little nervous.

Re: older volvo penta

why?
do the maint as per the manual and the belts never breaks,
was a good package if the maint was done.
if your scared of the rubber band replace it.
