older starcraft has no #'s on trans, is there other #'s

i just bought my very first 14ft starcraft its an older boat but i did alot to it and now it looks brand new i have no info on the boat other then the fact that it has stars on the back corner grab handles and someone told me thats a starcraft trade mark, its got no numbers on the transom, i was told there is a second hin # inside the boat if its 73 or newer that it is hidden somewhere though can someone please help me one this,as i want to use the boat this year im a younger guy and dont know that much about this,. and is a 25hp to much for this boat?

I can't say about your Starcraft, but on my 18' Starcraft I found another ID number up behind the steering wheel. Lay down and use your flashlight to look up under the deck.

I own a 1956 Starcraft Ski Champ 14 foot
I run a 1956 Mercury Mark 55E (40 hp)

What a ride, the boat is rated for 35 hp.

It also has those three stars on the back, got pics of yours?

I am having the same problem with a 14ft Starcraft SeaFarer. No HIN on the transom. It does have the Coast Guard info on the inside as well as the manufactures plate stating the load capacities. Mine states 30 HP max and it's a SF 14 O/B. I have unbolted the bow cap, transome caps with handles, I beleave it is a 1974 from looking at details from the other 74 on this sight.

I had the same problem with my 1985 Starcraft FM160. What happened with mine is someone put a live well in front of it, and the only way I found it was when I tore it out during my rebuild. So check for aftermarket things that could be blocking it.

I had the same issue with my old Glastron, No HIN on the transom. Heres what I discovered. Prior to 1971 boats had no serial number. The previous owner insisted that the hull was from 73. Much research on the web followed. I have no HIN because my boat was made in 1971 and did not have an HIN. So, could it be the same for you? I know nothing about starcrafts so I'm just throwing something out there that may help. Good luck identifing the boat. Some pics would help the other members identify your vintage.
