I was wondering if I buy an older outboard, specifically johnson/mercury, in the 70s, would parts be readily available from Mercury dealers, or is it now the point where you are hunting for vintage parts?

Regards,
Mike

I like to rebuild Mercurys from the seventies. A lot of the common needed parts like seal kits, piston rings, carb kits are still available from Mercury.

For NLA stuff, I like Seaway Marine in Washington state. And of course there is always ebay. Every once in a while, I come across something hard to find, but not too often.

Good luck! Can't say for Johnson/Evinrude.
