I just got an older 48HP Johnson. I have tried starting it with the starter as well as pull start, but the part where the pull cord goes seems to be locked? After about 15 mins of playing with the boats throttle I was able to get it to make a half turn but it locked again? As far as I know the motor is in neutral. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
