I have one of the old style greese fittings on my evinrude and johnson, what do you use to greese this type? Are there fittings for a new style greese gun?

What am I missing here? I didn't know there was a difference.

If the old ones are clogged up, just remove them and put in new ones.

I think I am the one missing something. I have two older engines. At the pivot point of the lower unit and head, there appears to be an old style greese fitting. On one of the engines I just tried to gently get it off, no go. Should'nt the pivot/steering pivot point be greesed?

Good question. I've got a 1954 Johnson Seahorse with the old style grease fittings. They aren't contoured like today's zerk fittings. I haven't tried to put my grease gun hose on yet. I need to repaint it first. When I'm done I'm thinking that I will just need to hold the hose down on the grease fitting with one hand and pump the grease with the other. Also, my fittings appear to be molded into the motor casing. They do not screw out.

GMCAMARO,

OK, I'm with you now. you may be able to find a needle adapter for your grease gun at a tool store.

The old style zerks will work with modern grease guns you just have to hold it on there, it won't snap on like the new ones. They are kind of like me they are old but still work :D :D
