I ran across a free out board that looks like the old sears. It looks like a lawn mower engine (aircooled). It has acroo the front "Clutch Drive" or "Clutch Shift"?? How can I ID this motor. It runs, but there the carb bowl leaks from where the springed screw goes into the bottom of the bowl. Is it likely I would be able to find a carb kit, or is this something that just has to be fabricated?

Re: Old Outboard

Find some numbers on the motor, look all over. Then post those on the Ask A Member board at www.aomci.org. They can ID it for you. Sounds like an air cooled Eska or maybe a Clinton? You can cut new gaskets from gasket material found at auto parts stores. Availability of a carb kit depends on the maker and year model.

IMP have you found any #s? If it has a springed screw on the bottom of the bowl it's could be a clinton. Do you have any pix?<br />doldiron@yahoo.com
