Plan to use lithium battery to power the starter of my Nissan NS40C and need to know what current the starter takes? How many amps?
This will determine size of the planed battery. Owner manual does not say that. Maybe someone can look in service manual? Did the same conversion on my 8 HP Mariner which takes 55 Amps during start. Would imagine 40HP Nissan should not take more then 100 Amps, but would like to be shure. Thanks, Mike

This is from Owner Manual. Last thing I need is 50 lb battery on my fast 12' power catamaran. Trying to keep weight to minimum and use lithium battery to start the engine and save 49 lb. lol. If will not find the answer from Service Manual than will measure current going to starter. There is always the other way.

A 12 V bat with 70 AH (465 Marine Cranking Amps) MCA or 350 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) will need to buy a Lithium Bat that works on that MCA/CCA power range.
