old montgomery ward seaking

I have a chance to pick up a old(not sure how old) Montgomery Ward SeaKing 6hp for about $60 is it worth it can I get replacement parts it has been kept in a garage for 3 or 4 years now it ran when put up

Have had an old Sea King for decades. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it to need to seek out parts. If it suits your needs, and runs as intended then I say yes.

Parts will be tough to find. Pretty sure that's an air cooled motor and it isn't likely to perform as well as a Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury etc 6HP but for $60 I suppose you can't go too wrong.

Most of the early Monky SeaKings were made by OMC's Gale Products Division. They didn't have a 6 HP in the line, but if its a 5 HP its probably one of them. Parts should be as easy as any OMC.

In later years, they were made by West Bend, and they did have a 6 HP model. 1958 or 1959. At that HP it should be water cooled. I don't think common parts like ignition and spark plugs would be a problem.
