Sorry about the double post, but the other post has some apparent technical difficulty.

Serial Number 4845439. I just need to confirm, I believe it is a 1977. It is a 150hp inline 6. Powerhead is painted black and I thought all of the older ones were not painted. It has blue decals and are different than any I have seen before. It is modified with a racing lower unit and exhaust ported thru the mid section. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Old Mercury Year?

That's what I come up with according to your serial number.A 1977 model

Re: Old Mercury Year?

Thanks ob and John for the reply

I came up with the 1977 on that marineshoppen German site.

John I clicked on the year finder and looked up my serial number and it says it is a 1975. Maybe I am mistaken.

Seems kind of trivial, but I will need to get parts and a manual for it.

Another reason I am wondering is because all of the older inline mercs say 1500 instead of 150, but mine clearly states 150 and it is clearly modified. I am just wondering if it a factory modified engine for racing or something.

Another thing, it has a red flywheel and is thunderbolt ignition (distributer), maybe that will help.
