The construction of the St Lawrence Seaway brought the closure of the first canal on the waterway adjacent Montreal. The municipality named Lachine (french for China) has over 350 years of a colourfull history starting with the fur trade. Last summer at the yacht club we had visitors from Maryland, Delaware, as far away as France. On both sides of the canal there has been a rush to convert the industrial buildings to trendy residences and to a renewed desire for boating to a lot of the city folk.
