Old JE metal fuel tank - leaks at fitting on top

I have an old JE metal fuel tank that works fine on the boat. I discovered today that after I disconnected the hose at the tank, gas slowly leaks out the metal tube and drips out. It stops when I open the cap and release the pressure. Before I remove the fitting from the tank, is there an o-ring or gasket inside that I can replace to stop the leak?

I had it out a few years ago when I repainted it and made a new cork gasket, but it doesn't leak there. Don't remember what it looks like inside.

Thanks, Daviet. I guess I'll have to just dig in and see. It's kind of hard to see what I'm looking for in the diagram. Mine may be as old as a 1965, but probably the same design. I may just loosen the cap until I have more time to look at it. It stopped leaking as soon as I did that.

Zoom in on #"s 23 and 24.
Releasing the pressure will stop the leak until you decide to try and fix it.

Thanks, very helpful, appreciate your input! I'd do it now but I'm about to put the boat in the water for the summer.
