I have a 16.5' Sea Nymph with a 50 horse 4 stroke Evenrude. Hasn't been in water for two years. I periodically start and run it with muffs to keep oil ciuculated, battery charged, etc.. This winter, the gasoline will be on it's third year and I want to empty the tank and put in fresh gas (with Stabil of course). My question, what do you do with the old gasoline? Gas stations up here don't want any thing to do with it. I don't dare dump it into an oil refuse container; too dangerous for others. Do you think it would be ok to just put in into my car?? Engine still seems to run ok.
Thanks - Bob

Re: Old Gasoline

How much fuel are we talking about here??? Did it have stabilizer in it this whole time?
You should be able to run it in your car with no problem>>>you can even burn it off a little at a time, such as 5 gals added per tankfull.
If you try it and notice the car runs a little ruff>>>try adding an OCTANE additive. I have run 4 year old gas in my fuel injected GMC with NO problem what-so-ever.
GOOD LUCK

Re: Old Gasoline

It will be fine in the car just make sure there is plenty of gas in the car already so it will be less of a mixture. Charlie

Thanks all. Talking 17 gallons which has always had stabilizer in it. I never add fuel without using recemmended mixture of Stabil. I really believe in it.
Bob

I wouldn't hesitate to add a gallon here and there if I was runnin a 72 Chevy. I wouldn't chance it with a modern engine with all the sensors & computers to get screwed up. It is just not worth it.

Re: Old Gasoline

Last year I unloaded 83 gallons out of my boat that sat for 6 years. I had stabilized it the first year and the third year.
I burned it in my cars, (both fuel injected) and had no problems at all.

Re: Old Gasoline

Do you have any farmer friends who keep an old 2 cylinder John Deere in operation? If so, give it to them. The 2 cylinder Johnnies lap it up whether it has Stabil or not. I feed the rancid stuff to my old JD40. It never knows the difference. That thing will run on paint thinner. Old 2-cycle mixed fuel goes down easily too. Only problem is the durn' tractor's so economical that sometimes a backlog builds up. I reckon the old Ford, Farmall and MH tractors from the 50's and earlier would do as well.

'nother Bob
