My family had an old ski boat back in the 70's that by the time I was born in '81 had been put into dry dock in our garage for years. At some point along the line the boat went away, and I thought it had just been sold. Imagine my surprise when I was visiting an uncle to help fix his barn when I saw it there. "Yeah, thats your boat, you want it back?"
Of course I did!
Had a mechanic friend of mine come over to take a look at it, said the engine was in remarkably good shape considering its been sitting untouched in a barn for at least the last 30 years. Hoses need replacing, the wiring replaced, an overall cleaning, but nothing actually bad seems to have happened to it in all these years.
Anyway, we're getting started with restoring it, figured there are at least two things I would really like to know about it.
1) What year is it? It would have been older and used when we got it, so that puts it most likely in the late 60's I'm thinking.
2) Am I sitting on a collector's item or something someone out there would actually want, or are we okay to do pretty much whatever we want to it without making some boating enthusiast out there weep bitter tears?
Sorry, no pictures currently of the actual foil sticker inside, it was falling off anyway so my mechanic friend took it to see if he could use it to find the tech manual for the engine. Can get pictures of it later today if needed.
