I have an old boat trailer (not very big)that has the type of axle with the rubber bushings as shock asorbers. The axle sorta pivets. These wheels and bearings are all 1 piece and I'd like to swap it out for a hub and wheel that are separate. Wheels are 2 piece wheels and a pain in the butt. To take the tire off you remove the bearings. What do I need to change it over? I'd like something like a snowmobile trailer wheel and tire. Want to remove the tire and wheel and just install another.

I may be mistaken but I believe you need to change the axle. This would likely mean you would need to add leaf springs or use the rubber torsion axle assemblies. I suspect you would be money ahead to simply sell what you have and buy a new/used trailer with the later style hubs and spindles.

Thanks,,,someone told me one can get a hub assembly that bolts to this axle. But I haven't found it yet.
