Re: Old Boat Motor Help

Terr. I have a Wards 7 1/2 hp and with Wards in bankruptcy, I couldn't find any ign parts. I took out the points and condenser, took them to a small engine shop and parts house. They matched the parts and everything worked fine. It seems this engine was made by Clinton and parts are still available. Hope this helps with part of your problem. Hal.

If it is the same company that made the chain saw (I think it is) they went bankrupt a couple yrs. ago. They have been bought and sold a couple times and are not making parts for anything. They never were real big with the aftermarket parts makers either.

Hi Terr,
For starters, your motor is a bit newer than 1955. I believe it was built in the early mid-1960s. They stopped building outboards in the later 1960s.
Your best bet to find information and possible parts is to start with Don "The Scott-Guy" Web at his site http://web.a-znet.com/scottguy/
If he doesn't have it, he usually knows where to get it.
- Scott
