1995 4 Winns with 3.0L GS Volvo-Penta. I have found an alternator (Sierra 18-6260) to replace my OEM part #3853853. However, the wiring diagram provided is slightly different than how the OEM is wired. The new wiring diagram has the same orange, purple, purple-white, and black ground wires and shows where they go, but the new wiring diagram then has a jumper off the orange going to the S terminal on new alternator. The OEM has a jumper off the purple going to that other terminal rather than off the orange. Should I wire the same as OEM with the jumper different than the replacement wiring diagram??

Thank you in advance for any input.

I personally would use the jumper between the main output and the sense since it is possible there will be voltage drop in that purple wire and cause the alternator output to be higher than it should be.

Newer Volvo wiring uses the jumper between the alternator main output and the sense terminal. I am actually surprised yours isn't already wired that way.
