I have an old 1974 85HP Merc outboard with lower unit damage that I must get rid of by Feb 14th or I get divorced. Does this forum's outboard experts have suggestions on how I can get rid of it fast? Maybe an outboar shop in the Seattle area would take it off my hands for parts? I'd haul it for min. cash/old kicker/fishing gear but I would give it away for free at North Bend. I struck out with advertising it in the littlenickel econo mag.
Thanks for any advise,
Sandman

If it has a power trim assembly I'd be more than happy to get that from you. You will get the most for it if you part it out. Remove the powerhead and sell it, sell the cowls seperatly, sell the leg assembly with the power trim on it, you'll fetch a few bones. If I lived closer I'd come and take it off your hands...

Keep it until Feb. 14th, then you'll have much more time to go boating. You won't have any cash to your name, but at least you'll be able to go out on the water when you want:)

Another way to get rid of it quick is to donate it to a vocational/tech school as a charitable donation and take the tax break.

Thanks to everyone for a variety of options.

I attempted and failed with a nearby vocational school. They wanted more current technology.

Boattinker,
Call me if you have serious interest,425-831-7727. You can come up to North Bend via I-5 North/Highway 18/I-90 East and pick it up for free. That's about an hour drive from Tacoma. I might be able to bring it closer to Tacoma for some cash. It's another busy weekend though.
