Okay Completely New to PWC, need help.

We just bought a 1990 and a 1995 Seadoo Sp. We haven't taken them out yet. When I opened up the garage door last night it reeked of gasoline. The 1990 is the culprit. I don't know if this is normal or what I should even check for? Can someone give me some suggestions?

Check around the fuel tank, lid, hoses, etc. Then check the other end of the hoses for tightness and wear. Most imortant of all, make sure all fuel spilled into the compartment is cleaned out and that the source is identified and corrected. This should be done outside, not in the garage. Gasoline has a very low flashpoint, so be sure not to smoke or use anthing near it that may be capable of introducing a spark to the fumes.

Hey you might want to check the check valve in the vent line on top of the tank.It is the one line separate from the fuel sender assembly.Air flow should only be one way.The needle and seat could be sticking in the carb.(aside from checkin for obvious leaks).

I am sorry also check the square round plate on one side of carb away from motor.It has a weep hole that when wet or leaking indicates a diaphram beneath it has a hole.Often after sitting for some time they dry up and upon re-activity they develop pin holes.If this is the case,remove carband remove plate to access diaphram.Holding it up to light you can easily see the perforations.You can purchase just the diaphram for like $15 but it is a good idea to get the complete rebuild kit for about twice that and do the whole carb,it is worth it in the long run.Pretty simple procedure for anyone.You can find oem parts at www.hlsm.com.(online microfiche).If you need help,you can find walkthru vid on www.pwctoday.com.Good luck.
