Re: Okay Auto enthusiasts

Thanks, Bob...that's a good site, reminds me of learning to drive on my mom's 1949 Buick Super convertible, powder blue with matching blue leather, black canvas top, dynaflow transmission, straight 8 engine so smooth you could hardly hear it run, and power windows! talk about a creampuff!...another car we should have kept!

Dude.... Bob....;)

So much fun to look at those old cars as advertised when new.

You have got to look at some of the decked out interiors from the 80's. Can you say couch cushions? you have got to see the 1980 thunderbird or the Cutlas supreme from the 1983 olds brochure.

Brings back memories. The fabric used on modern interiors is like paper compared to the 80's. I almost forgot what it was like back then.

I can't stop looking.

Check out this quote from the 1991 dodge brochure referring to the Dodge Shadow

"To match the power of it's available 150 horsepower, 2.5-liter turbo engine...."

Should a 2.5 liter engine need a turbo to make a whopping 150 hp??

Interesting. Look under Misc. for the '54 Chris Craft and a '59 McCulloch outboard.

That's a cool site.

Ok, question....does anyone else have a bizarre fondness for a seemingly pedestrian car just cuz it was what you had when you were younger? I was stuck driving this http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/olds/87oldsm/bilder/10.jpg (actually it was pretty much that EXACT car down to the mauve color and woodgrain) as I got it from my grandmother. Despite the chic-repellent characteristics, it was a great car. Hauled all my stuff back and forth to college, was really comfortable and had A/C and power stuff. Had the 2.8 multiport FI motor which ran like a scalded ape and had a fantastic exhaust note. So naturally, due to my fondness for the 'ol Ciera, I really really want one of these http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/olds/87oldsm/bilder/9.jpg (the black one, duh) with the 3.8. I swear if I won the lottery, I would absolutely find one and have it restored. And everyone would think I was crazy. :p

Re: Okay Auto enthusiasts

Great site, Bob! Thanks! Aw, the memories ... Love to just stare at the '65 GTO and the '69 Judge. Also the vintage Firebirds. They don't have my '40 Pontiac listed there or my 50th Anniversary T/A, but have a lot of the vehicles I have grown to love over the years. I can open this site and look at the old brochures without going to the garage and digging through the boxes! Great!

Oh, and EZ, those Cieras were fun ... especially the ones they tried to trick out and make a sports car. Olds really should have stayed in the luxury market and left the sports market to Pontiac, but what do the dealers know? Gotta listen to the top brass. The 6000 STE's and then the Bonneville STE's were much more fun to drive!

Here was my first vehicle. Same color combo. Unfortunately, minus the girl!

EZ, I had a Ciera. What a comfortable car. I loved it, the wife not so much.
Aspeck, the first place I went was to look at my '68 GTO. I see we have the same "great" taste....;)

Re: Okay Auto enthusiasts

I have ones of these sitting in my driveway all covered up and waiting for spring:

My wife who emigrated here from Scotland in the late 1970's just doesn't understand the North American love of the old cars. She loves how much room there is inside the car, but because it is so much bigger then today's cars I can almost never find a parking spot on the street, and that just pissed her right off. All the spots are about 2 feet too short, so we end up parking further on down the street, or around the corner.....then she has to walk all the way to the shops and then back again....awwwwwwww

Did you guys notice the site was compiled by a Norwegian? Actually there are a lot of American car lovers in Europe.

Good link Bob, thanks for sharing.

I love the AMC brochures. The Gremlin, Pacer and Eagle are some classic old cars.:D

There's a Chris Craft brochure in the misc area too.

This was my exact ride in high school. A 1970 Cyclone Spoiler SCJ429 automatic with 3:00 traction lock rear end. 153 MPH.Cyclone.jpg

I totaled this car 3 times. Imagine that. :D

That's cool. I got to see how they originally marketed my '67 Bronco.

Thanks for posting

Unreal. I'm pretty sure I won't live long enough to look at eveything on that site. Can't imagine what it took to put it together. Going to be some fun. Thanks, Bob.
