Why? What is the purpose for copying a game to the hard drive?

Loads and plays quicker. The loading takes about a second or two and there's no lag time between scenes/checkpoints on higher 3D accelleration games.

You will still need the disc in the xbox to play the game loaded on the hard drive. also, not all games can be loaded to the hard drive. There is a noticable difference in load times.
