Recently replaced the impeller in my 73 Evinrude Lark 50 hp. Did it all by advice given and read about. Unfortunately, no one told me to put sealant between the pump housing and the plate below the housing. I noticed that some silicone-clear like stuff was there when I removed it, but thought the previous owner may have put it there as extra protection. Anyhoo..ran the boat yesterday at WOT and cruise RPM and never got a buzzer. Assuming the buzzer works. Is it ok to run it this way, or do I need to drop the darn thing again and re-gasket the housing?

Lee,

If your buzzer works and is not going off, do not worry about it.

You can test the buzzer by grounding the tan wire that goes to the sensor (on top, of head) with the key-ON-not running.

Thanks for the info...I assume 15 min at 4500 RPM would have made it explode if there was not enough water getting to the head.
